GREAT BEND — Larry Dean Ward, 67, died Dec. 21, 2011 at Wesley Medical Center in Wichita.
Born Oct. 25, 1944 in Great Bend, he was the son of Ephreum W. and Millie (Horine) Ward.
On April 27, 1963 he married Mary Gonsalez in Great Bend. She survives. A lifetime resident of Barton County, he was a machinist at Farley’s Machine and later worked at Cashco. He enjoyed woodworking and spending time with his family.
Survivors include his wife, Mary Ward, of the home; two sons, Lawrence Duane “Jake” Ward, Ellsworth, and fiancé Connie Stucky Ward, McPherson; and Kenneth Lynn Ward and wife Kary, Ellinwood; three daughters, Shelley Ward Elsen, Ellinwood, Melissa Schremmer and husband Tim, Hoisington; and Melinda Petz and husband Carl, Olathe; three sisters, Marilyn Gilmore of Texas; Beverly Partridge, Russell; and Sybil Diana Wheling, Great Bend; and a brother, Ed Ward, Chase.
He was preceded in death by a son, Edgar Willis Ward; three brothers, Kenneth Ward, Lavern Ward, and Leonard Ward; and four sisters, Margaret Krom, Betty Jean Ward, Hazel Turley and Frances Brown.
A memorial service is scheduled at 10 a.m. Monday, Dec. 26 at Bryant Funeral Home with Pastor Mike Joiner officiating. Burial will be at the Hilcrest Memorial Park in Great Bend. There will be no visitation as cremation has taken place.
