Larry Eugene Banks 1939 - 2013

WICHITA — Larry Eugene Banks, 73, died April 25 at Meridian Nursing & Rehabilitation Center in Wichita. He was born Dec. 22, 1939, at Lyons, the son of William F. and Esther Mae Lineback Banks. He graduated from Ellinwood High School in 1955. He married Lou Bowling. They later divorced. A Wichita resident, he formerly lived in Garland, Texas, Ellinwood, Beaufort, S.C., and Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
Mr. Banks was a member of the Shriners and Masonic Lodge. He was a Master Sergeant in the U.S. Marines.
Survivors include two daughters, Amy Johnson of Wichita and Debbie McWhirt of Overland Park; a brother, Charles Banks of Albany, Ore.; two sisters, Pat Sharp of Garrettsville, Ohio, and Sally Morrow of Garland, Texas; and three grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and stepmother Ruth Banks; and by two brothers, Jimmy and Chris Banks.
Military graveside service will be at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, May 1, at Lakin-Comanche District Cemetery, Ellinwood, with the Rev. Kasey Crosby officiating. Memorials are suggested to the Ellinwood Public School Foundation.
