GREAT BEND – Larry James Buczinski, 72, passed away Sept. 10, 2020, at Rolling Hills Health and Rehab, Wichita.
He was born Sept. 30, 1947, at Wichita, to Lawrence and June (Smith) Buczinski. He married Marilyn Kay Soeken Jan. 10, 1971, at Claflin. She survives.
A lifetime Barton county resident, Larry lived in Great Bend. He was a police officer for several years in Great Bend and Ellinwood and an EMT in Ellinwood. He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Great Bend, American Legion Post No. 180, the American Legion Riders and the Lions Club. He was a United States Army veteran, serving two tours in Vietnam and one tour in Germany and Kosovo. He was a family man and many considered him a Jack of all trades, as he especially enjoyed helping others.
Survivors include, his wife, Marilyn Buczinski of the home; a son, John Buczinski and wife Maranda, Emporia; a daughter, Jessica Runnels and husband Paul, Larned; a brother, Daniel Buczinski and wife Diana, Goddard; three sisters, Diana Rightmire and husband Warren, and Geneva Spotz, all of Kansas City, Mo., and Mary Richardson of Wichita; 13 grandchildren; and four great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Charles Buczinski; and a sister, Christina Gonzalez.
Visitation will be held from noon to 9 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 16, 2020, at Bryant Funeral Home, with family to receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m.
Funeral Service will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 17, 2020, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Great Bend, with Pastor Jon Brudvig presiding. Interment will be in the Claflin Cemetery with Military Rites conducted by the Fort Riley Honor Guard and the American Legion Riders.
Memorials are suggested to Trinity Lutheran Church or the Wounded Warrior Project, in care of Bryant Funeral Home.
