Larry “Pops” Ravenstien, 75, died Jan. 17 at Harry Hynes Memorial Hospice, Wichita. He was born Sept. 23, 1938, at Lyons, the son of Wilmer “Red” and Helen (Albin) Ravenstien. He married Patricia Crockett Dec. 23, 1958, at Ellinwood. They later divorced. He then married Joyce Porter at Nickerson. They later divorced. He was a truck driver for most of his life; his last employment was with Griffin Seed, Nickerson.
Mr. Ravenstien had been a Great Bend resident since 2001 coming from Nickerson.
He was a United States Army veteran.
Survivors include two sons, Kelly Ravenstien of Salina, and Scott Ravenstien and his wife Gabe of Great Bend; two sisters, Billie Nelson and her husband Merle of El Dorado, and Sandy Shultz and her husband Doug of Nickerson; one brother, Jerry Ravenstien and his wife Patty of Sterling; six grandchildren; and numerous special nieces and nephews.
No services are planned. Cremation has taken place. Donations to a memorial fund to Harry Hynes Memorial Hospice may be made in care of Bryant Funeral Home. Condolences may be sent and notice viewed at www.bryantfh.net.
