Lavern Eugene Elsasser 1931 - 2015

WICHITA — Lavern Eugene Elsasser, 83, died May 31, 2015, at Wesley Medical Center in Wichita. Born Oct. 14, 1931, in Milberger, he was the son of Leo and Esther (Ochs) Elsasser. On April 18, 1954, he married Nila Jean Diel in Otis. He was senior application engineer for Diesel Equipment Company in Great Bend beginning in 1955, and transferred with the company in 1966, to Wichita, which later became Central Power Systems. His hobby was clock making. Mr. Elsasser was a United States Army veteran, serving from 1951 to 1953, during the Korean Conflict. He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 7428 in Hoisington, and American Legion Post No. 99 in Russell. Survivors include his wife, of the home; one son, Leon Elsasser and his wife Wendy of Wichita; one daughter, Lois Dailey and her husband Wayne of Joplin, Mo.; six grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and one brother, Larry Elsasser and his wife Bonnie of Russell. He was preceded in death by his parents; and one son, Leroy Elsasser. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, June 4, at Bryant Funeral Home with the Rev. Dr. Scott V. Solether officiating. Burial will be at Hillcrest Memorial Park in Great Bend. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. on Wednesday at the funeral home.
