CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — Lawrence “Larry” Dean Hulsey, 66, of Corpus Christi, Texas, died March 6, 2024, in Austin, Texas. He was born on Aug. 31, 1957, in Larned, Kan., to Gary and Betty (Haberman) Hulsey.
Larry grew up in Larned, Kan. He worked a lot of jobs, especially in maintenance, including at Wesley Towers and at First Baptist Church, both in Hutchinson, Kan. For the past 12 years he was retired in Corpus Christi, spending his days with his daughter, Rachel. He enjoyed hunting pheasant in Kansas, playing golf, and kayak fishing with his son, Jacob, in the bay in Corpus Christi.
On Nov. 7, 1981, Larry married Cheryl Breitenbach in Belpre, Kan. They had four children: Lukas, Matthew, Jacob, and Rachel.
Larry is survived by wife Cheryl; children, Lukas Hulsey of Austin, Texas, Jacob and Rachel Hulsey of Corpus Christi, Texas; parents, Gary and Betty Hulsey of Larned; sister, Becky Hulsey of Larned; brothers- Gary (Vicki) Hulsey of Colorado Springs, Colo., James (Lisa) Hulsey of Larned, and Ron (Claire) Hulsey of Overland Park; and granddaughter, Opal Hulsey of Austin, Texas.
He was preceded in death by son Matthew “Matt” Allen Hulsey; brother Donald “Donny” Wayne Hulsey; and in-laws Garman and Pat Breitenbach.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday March 16, 2024, at the Elliott Chapel with Pastor Matt Stafford officiating. The family will greet family and friends from 9-10 a.m. prior to the service. Interment will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery in Hutchinson. Friends may sign the book at Elliott Mortuary from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the American Cancer Society, in care of Elliott Mortuary, 1219 N. Main St, Hutchinson, KS 67501.
