Leroy C. “Mac” McDorman, 87, died Dec. 31 at Great Bend Regional Hospital. Born Nov. 22, 1926, he was the son of Dennis and Lena (Simenton) McDorman. On May 16, 1953, he married Darlene Venters at Plainville. A Great Bend resident since 1966, coming from Russell, he was employed by Halliburton Services, retiring as a field supervisor after 42 years. He loved his family and enjoyed fishing, hunting, and working in his yard.
Mr. McDorman served during World War II in the United States Army. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church and Golden Belt Community Concert Association, both of Great Bend.
Survivors include his wife, Darlene McDorman, of the home; one son, Jay McDorman and wife Kimberly of Andover; two daughters, Cindy Christiansen and husband Dave of McPherson and Sheri Williams and husband Jim of McKinney, Texas; one sister, Lela Baker of Texas; six grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Ronald McDorman and Richard McDorman.
Memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at Bryant Funeral Home with the Rev. Lennie Maxwell officiating. A private family inurnment will take place at the Great Bend Cemetery. There will be no visitation as cremation has taken place. Memorials are suggested to the First United Methodist Church, in care of the funeral home.
