GREAT BEND — Leroy E. Foos, 85, died Dec. 2, 2015 at Great Bend Regional Hospital.
He was born March 9, 1930 at Bazine, the son of George and Marie (Giskie) Foos.
Mr. Foos married Dorothy A. Gitgood Jan. 2, 1952 at Great Bend. He was owner and operator of Leroy’s Apco and later a salesman for Reiter Chevrolet. Mr. Foos was a Great Bend resident since 1946 coming from Cheyenne, Wyo. He was a member of First Church of the Nazarene, A. F. & A. M. Masonic Lodge No. 15, York and Scottish Rite, all of Great Bend. He was instrumental in starting the SRCA Drag Strip in Great Bend.
Survivors include his wife, Dorothy A. Foos, of the home; three sons, Lonnie Foos and companion Sandra Parret, Larned; Fred Foos and his wife Debbi, Owasso, Okla.; and David Foos and his wife Georgia, Derby; a sister, Janice Kimberlin, Kansas City, Kan.; a brother, Howard Lee Foos, Great Bend; eight grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by one brother, George Foos, Jr., and two sisters, Carol Meyers and Janette Williams.
A graveside service is scheduled at 10:30 a.m. Monday, Dec. 7 at Great Bend Cemetery with The Reverend Josh Foster officiating. Interment will be at the Great Bend Cemetery. There will be no visitation as cremation has taken place.
Memorial Funds are suggested to the Golden Belt Humane Society, in care of Bryant Funeral Home.
