TAHLEQUAH, Okla. — Leroy E. Borron, 84, former Great Bend resident, died at his home with family at his side on July 21. Born Sept. 11, 1927 in Jennings, Okla., he was the son of Everett and Lucille (Harp) Borron. He attended school in Hoisington. On Aug. 15, 1950, he married Dorothy Ann Deines of Hoisington, in Hoisington. They had four children. He worked in the oil production industry, sold real estate and was an insurance salesman for Farmers Insurance. He enjoyed outdoor activities such as hunting, fishing, gardening and spending time with his family at the lake.
Mr. Borron served in the Merchant Marines followed by the United States Army in 1946 until his honorable discharge in 1949. He was a lifelong member of the First United Methodist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Dorothy of the home in Tahlequah, Okla.; three daughters, Brenda Taxeras of Leavenworth, Beverly Davis of Towanda, and Diane Poeschel (Steve) of El Dorado; his son, Curtis Borron (Beverley) of Wichita Falls, Texas; one sister, Barbara Payne and companion Larry Phelps of New Braunfels, Texas; five grandchildren, Heather Taxeras of Gainesville, Fla., Adrienne Andrews (Matt) of Boston, Mass., Abby O’Rourke (Alex) of Healy, and Ann Poeschel and Sam Poeschel, both of El Dorado; and four great-grandchildren Chance O’Rourke, Kodee O’Rourke, Terence O’Rourke, and Teghan O’Rourke; as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins; and a host of friends and loved ones. He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Everett Borron Jr.; and one sister, Wanda Gibbs.
Funeral services were held on July 25 at Reed-Culver Chapel in Tahlequah, Okla. Burial with military honors followed at Ft. Gibson National Cemetery in Ft. Gibson, Okla. Memorials may be sent to the First United Methodist Church of Tahlequah, Okla. or Hope Hospice of Tahlequah, Okla.
