PAXICO — Lewis E. Massie, 87, died April 24 at the Colmery-O’Neil VA Medical Center in Topeka. Born June 3, 1923, at Highland County,Iowa, he was the son of John R. and Mary Hawk Massie. He was married to Vera Massie. She preceded him in death. He later married Andrea Diane Nienhuis. A resident of Kansas many years, he spent the past several years in Paxico. He had worked construction, was a truck driver and had owned and operated a service station.

Mr. Massie served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He was a life member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars.

Survivors include his wife, Andrea, of the home; two sons Earl and Bob Massie; two daughters, Donna Harris and Barbara Jane Thompson; a sister Connie and husband Jerry Hatton; 13 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by the foster children he raised.

Cremation has taken place per Mr. Massie’s wishes and there will be no service.
