Lloyd Lloydy L. Hafliger 1930 - 2013


WAKEENEY — Lloyd “Lloydy” L. Hafliger, 83, died Aug. 21, 2013 at Trego County Lemke Memorial Hospital in WaKeeney.
Born Jan. 7, 1930, in rural Trego County, he was the son of George and Sara Abbey (Mummert) Hafliger.
On July 23, 1954, he married Joyce Maria Black. They were married 11 years, until her death on April 17, 1965. On Feb. 5, 1971, he married Joanne Louise Smith in Jetmore. He was employed as a carpenter, a mechanic at the Standard station in WaKeeney, and in the oil field as a deck hand.
Mr. Hafliger served in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict.
Survivors include his wife, Joanne Louise Smith, of the home; three sons Glenn, Jason and Larry, all of WaKeeney; two daughters Nancy, Bolivar, Mo.; and Penny Demel, Great Bend; nine grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his first wife; his parents; five brothers Elmer, Walter, Leonard, Calvin, and Ralph; and an infant sister.
Memorial graveside services will be held at 1 p.m. Monday, at the WaKeeney City Cemetery. There will be no visitation as cremation has taken place. Memorial contributions are suggested to the Lloyd Hafliger Memorial Fund and may be sent in care of the funeral home.
