LA CROSSE — Lloyd R. Rodie, 91, died May 2 at his home in La Crosse. Born Aug. 25, 1920, in rural Timken, he was the son of John and Carrie (Kaiser) Rodie. A lifelong resident of Rush County, he was a farmer and stockman before his retirement.
On May 4, 1944, he married Mildred Lorenz. She preceded him in death on Dec. 3, 1971. On Jan. 2, 1973, he married Ena (Nelson) Renner at the United Methodist Church in La Crosse. She preceded him in death on March 1, 2004.
Mr. Rodie was a veteran of the U.S. Army.
He attended the Seventh Day Adventist Church in La Crosse.
Survivors include a son, Gary Rodie and his wife Sharon Rodie of Whitehouse, Texas; two stepsons, Melvin R. Renner, and his wife Virgie Renner of Overland Park, and Marvin L. Renner and his wife Cindy Renner of Firth, Neb.; two stepdaughters, Sylvia J. Hawk, and her husband Richard Hawk of Leawood, and Sheila K. Wawrzaszek and her husband Joseph Wawrzaszek of Wichita; a brother, Larry Rodie of Denver, Colo.; three sisters, Ruby Veltman of Savannah, Tenn., LeAnn Herbel of Niles, Mich., and Joyce Rodie of La Crosse; 10 grandchildren and 24 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Marvin Rodie, Junior Rodie and Delwin Rodie; and one sister Alvina Bott.
Funeral services were held on Saturday at the Seventh Day Adventist Church in La Crosse with Pastor Ed Jumper officiating. Burial was at the La Crosse City Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to the Maranatha Christian School in Hays.
