CABIN JOHN, Md. — Lora Belle Renz passed away on Wednesday, January 14, 2015, at Holy Cross Hospital in Maryland. She was born April 19, 1935, at St. Rose Hospital in Great Bend, to Arthur and Bessie (Nordman) Tammen of Albert. She grew up on a farm south of Albert and attended District II Country School.
She met Donald Renz from Rush Center and they were married on June 12, 1957, at the Peace Lutheran Church.
They lived most of their married life in Cabin John, Maryland. They had two daughters, Debra Ann (Buddy) Morgal from Kensington, Maryland and Cheryl Gay (JR) Whiteside from Newburg, Maryland. She has four granddaughters, Nicole Morgal, Jessica, Tiffany and Julia Whiteside, and one great-grandson, Jorden Whiteside.
She is survived by one brother, Frank C. (Sharon) Tammen from Castle Rock, Colorado, as well as nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband Donald Renz; her parents; and one sister, Alberta Marcella (Tammen) Brack.
She will be cremated and buried beside her husband Donald at Arlington National Cemetery.
Memorials can be made to the Peace Lutheran Church, Albert. A gathering for family and friends will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 21, at the Cabin John Garden Community Center, 8 ½ Webb Road, Cabin John, Maryland 20818.
