BISON — Lora Marie (Lauer) Kaus, 58, died Monday, Jan. 4, 2016, at rural Bison. Born June 2, 1957, in Hays, she was the daughter of Anthony and Shirley Lauer. In 1975 she graduated from St. John’s Catholic School in Beloit. On Dec. 29, 1984, she married Michael “Mike” Kaus at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Timken. A resident of Rush County since 1984, moving there from Beloit, she was a homemaker and spent most of her time canning whatever was in season, gardening, and with her grandchildren.
Mrs. Kaus was a member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church, St. Ann’s Altar Society, and a past member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church Parish Council, all of Timken.
Survivors include, her husband, Michael “Mike” Kaus of Bison; three daughters, Margaret Ann Brewer (Jerad), of Otis, Jessica Marie Kaus of La Crosse, and Andrea Jane “Annie” Kaus of Hays; two grandchildren, Paige Lynn Brewer, and Carter Michael Kaus; and siblings, Matt Lauer of Concordia, Chris Crawford of Atlanta, Ga., Jane Brown of St. Louis, Mo., Ann Heberly of Glasco, Peggy Heidrick of Jewell, Michelle Crumpton of Ogden, and Melanie Davis of Colorado Springs, Colo. She was preceded in death by her parents.
Funeral service was at 10 a.m. on Jan. 7, at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Timken, with Father Ultan Murphy officiating. Visitation was held from 4 to 8 p.m. on Jan. 6, at the Janousek Funeral Home in La Crosse, with the family receiving friends from 6 to 7 p.m. A vigil service and rosary was at 7 p.m. Church visitation from 9 to 9:50 a.m. on Jan. 7, at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Timken.
