DODGE CITY — Lorna Deane “Nanny” Spillman, 84, died Jan. 16, 2012 at Trinity Manor Nursing Home, Dodge City.
She was born March 28, 1927 at St. John, the daughter of Wesley E. and Bertha C. (Henning) Wise.
She graduated from St. John High School and Hutchinson Community College of nursing. She married Melvin L. Spillman on May 24, 1947 in Wichita. He preceded her in death on June 8, 2005.
Lorna was of the Methodist faith and a member of the Order of The Eastern Star chapter No. 226 of Larned. Lorna was a devoted housewife, mother, grandmother and a friend who loved family gatherings, playing cards, bingo and dancing.
She is survived by a daughter, Connie Carroll (Richard), Fairland, Okla.; a son, Doug Spillman, Miami, Okla.; daughter-in-law Melba Spillman, Fargo, Okla.; a brother, Jack Wise (Sondra), Ellinwood; seven grandchildren, Brad Carroll (Kendall), Independence; Brian Carroll (Julie), Great Bend; Heather Carroll, Dodge City; Jayme Spillman (Shelby), Fargo, Okla.; Nikki Seagraves (Kevin), Colombus, Ohio; Mandy Hixon, Miami, Okla.; Matt Spillman (Stephanie), Marionville, Mo.; 10 great grandchildren, Kinsey and Kason Carroll, Independence; Brecken, Lakyn and Kalyn Carroll, Great Bend; Keegan and Kelton Spillman, Fargo, Okla.; Kyleigh and Addyson Hixon, Miami, Okla.; and Kinson Spillman, Marionville, Mo.
Lorna was preceded in death by her husband, youngest son, Jim, and a sister, Joan Hicks.
A Graveside Service is scheduled at 10:30 a.m. Friday, Jan. 20 at Fairview Park Cemetery of St. John with Rev. Dick Robbins presiding.
Visitation is scheduled from noon to 8 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 19 at Swaim Funeral Home, Dodge City.
Memorials are suggested to the American Heart Association in care of the funeral home.
