Louis J. Brummer 1924 - 2015

DOWNS — Louis Joseph Brummer died Feb. 27, 2015. He was born March 18, 1924, south of Downs to Ignatz and Anna Redeker Brummer. He attended High Prairie School, south of Downs. On Aug. 8, 1950, he married Cleo Marie Boberg. He worked as an elevator manager and grain inspector with Midway Coop in Corinth and Downs.

Mr. Brummer was inducted in the Army Air Corps in January, 1943.
He was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Downs, the Tipton American Legion and the VFW of Beloit.

Survivors include his children Dale (Diana) Brummer, Dodge City; Bruce (Janie) Brummer, Davis, Okla.; Debbie (Jay) Taylor, Cawker City; Donna (Don) Gerstenkorn, Augusta; Brenda (Rodger) Budke, Beloit; and Brian (Carey) Brummer, Hoisington; 12 grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren; a brother, Tony (Carolyn) Brummer, Plainville; and sister, Regina Selichnow, Denver. He was preceded in death by his wife; an infant son, Dwight; two brothers, Francis and Joseph; and three sisters, Veronica Carl, Agnes Brummer and Madeline Rypma.  

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, March 2, at St. Boniface Catholic Church in Tipton. A vigil service will be held at 7 p.m. Sunday at the church. Memorials may be made to the Tipton American Legion Post No. 278 or Honor Flight of Kansas.
