GREAT BEND — Lucille M. Nelson, 98, died Dec. 16, 2015 at River Bend Assisted Living, Great Bend.
She was born June 20, 1917 at Rice County, Kansas, the daughter of Edward and Oliva (Schulte) Koehler.
She married Thorne M. Schaffter in September 1935. She married Loren M. “Swede” Nelson Feb. 29, 1964 at Great Bend, Kansas. He died August 4, 1991.
She was a long-time Security State Bank employee. Mrs. Nelson was a lifetime area resident. She was a member of Prince of Peace Parish at St. Patrick Catholic Church, Altar Society, Daughters of Isabella, American Legion Auxiliary, Soroptomist, and Central Kansas Council of Girl Scouts.
Survivors include a daughter: Thorene Turner, Hemet, Calif.; three grandchildren: Doug Turner, Bro. Luke Turner and Linda Turner; two great-grandchildren: Sylvia Turner and Daniel Turner.
She was preceded in death by a brother, Gerald Koehler and a great-granddaughter, Stephanie Turner.
An Altar Society Rosary will be at 4 p.m. and Vigil Service with Daughters of Isabella Rosary will be at 7 p.m., Sunday, Dec. 20 at Bryant Funeral Home.
Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday, Dec. 21 at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Great Bend with Father Ted Stoecklein celebrating. Burial will be in Hillcrest Memorial Park, Great Bend. Friends may call from 1 to 9 p.m. Sunday at Bryant Funeral Home.
