Lyle Dean Juergensen 1936-2014


GREAT BEND — Lyle Dean Juergensen, age 77, of Great Bend passed away at Great Bend Regional Hospital Jan. 10, 2014.
Lyle was born May 1, 1936 in Great Bend, the son of Emil and Alverta (Steinert) Juergensen.
Lyle graduated from Great Bend High School and attended Barton County Community College. He was Baptized on July 12, 1936 and confirmed on April 23, 1950 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Great Bend, where he was also a member. He served his country in the United States Air Force from 1957 until 1960 where he was stationed in Germany. During his time in the Air Force, he was an M.P. and was in charge of canine training. Lyle worked in various jobs in the oilfield from his teens and retired at the age of 75. The oilfield was his passion. He enjoyed moving into Great Bend where he was closer to his family and friends. Lyle also enjoyed watching his grandchildren grow up, his dog Girlie, playing cards, and drilling for oil in the oil patch.
Lyle married Bev Ukens on Feb. 19, 1961 at Great Bend.
Survivors include his wife, Bev, of the home; three daughters, Deb and husband Paul Marshall, Great Bend; Cheryl and husband Jack Reichenberger, De Soto; and Brenda and husband Mark Hunter, Colwich; three sisters: Marilyn Keller, San Antonio, Texas; Vera and husband Louie Bortolotti, Council Bluffs, Iowa; Carma and husband Darrell Tinkel, Great Bend; two brothers, Fred and wife Darla Juergensen, Smithville, Mo.; Louis Juergensen and companion Karen Kozisek, Omaha, Neb; and seven grandchildren, Levi Azeltine, James Azeltine and Beth Reichenberger all of De Soto; Tanner and wife Mina Marshall, Katy, Texas; Logan Marshall, Great Bend; and Ashleigh and Easton Hunter, Colwich.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, David Juergensen, and a brother-in-law, Marion Keller.
Memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Monday at Trinity Lutheran Church in Great Bend with Pastor Adam Wutka officiating. Family will receive friends on Sunday from 6 until 8 p.m. at Bryant Funeral Home.
