M. Lee Ochs 1935 - 2016

RUSH CENTER — M. Lee Ochs, 81, died May 19, 2016, at Hays Medical Center. Born May 13, 1935, in LaCrosse, he was the son of Manuel and Marie (Koch) Ochs. In 1954 he graduated from LaCrosse Rural High School. On Dec. 19, 1954, he married Marjorie Cunningham at Otis. A long time resident of Rush County, he was employed in many fields that ranged from insurance salesman to Friendship Meals, but his primary occupation was power plant operator for Midwest Energy, and detailing cars.
Mr. Ochs was a veteran of the United States Air Force, serving from 1954 to 1957.
Survivors include his wife, Marjorie Ochs of Rush Center; one son, Mark Ochs (Balinda), of Great Bend; one daughter, Debra Lewis (Dean), of Salina; three sisters, Betty Kirby of Salina, Carol Hallett (Gene) of Great Bend, and Valta Dreher of Rush Center. He was preceded in death by his parents; one daughter, Rhonda (Ochs) Gass; and one brother, Robert Ochs.
Memorial service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday at Janousek Funeral Home in La Crosse with Kara Jecha officiating. A private family inurnment will be at the Locust Hill Cemetery in Rush Center. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday at the Janousek Funeral Home in La Crosse, with the family receiving friends from 6 to 8 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to Locust Grove Village in La Crosse, Walnut Valley Senior Center in Rush Center, or the Rush County Memorial Hospital in La Crosse.
