Ellinwood — Mae Malissia Sanders, 86, passed away at Clara Barton Hospital in Hoisington on Jan. 6, 2016. She was born in Alexandria, LA on Aug. 23, 1929 to Nicholas & Minnie Bennett. She married Leon Sanders in Clovis, NM on Nov. 17, 1951.
She worked as a nurse in Baton Rouge, LA and was a member of Eastern Star & the Amaranth Masonic family. Mae was an Ellinwood resident since 1966 formerly of Texas and Louisiana.
She is preceded in death by her husband, parents, daughter, Mary L. Doze, and sister, Caroline Stewart.
She is survived by a daughter, Patricia Sanders, Ellinwood; grandchildren, Melissia Herren, Great Bend; Travis Doze (Kristin), Hoisington; great-grandchildren Deana & Olivia Edwards and Sam Doze.
Funeral service will be Tuesday Jan. 12 at 10 a.m. at Minnis Chapel in Ellinwood. Burial will follow at Lakin-Comanche Cemetery, Ellinwood. There will be visitation on Monday Jan. 11 from 3-7 p.m. also at Minnis Chapel. Memorials are suggested to the Barton County Relay for Life in care of Minnis Chapel, PO Box 246, Ellinwood, KS 67526.
