ELLINWOOD — Marcellene Marie McDonold, 99, died Aug. 14, 2013, at Woodhaven Care Center in Ellinwood.
Born Oct. 24, 1913 in Barnard, she was the daughter of Harris L. and Anna M. (Hunter) Hart.
She graduated from Barnard High School. She attended Kansas Wesleyan College and earned her undergraduate degree from Sterling College and her master’s degree from Fort Hays State University. On March 12, 1936, she married Andrew Cameron McDonold in Lincoln. He died Nov. 24, 1964.
Moving to Great Bend in 1960 coming from Ellinwood, she was a third grade elementary teacher with USD 355 for 35 years before retiring in 1983. Mrs. McDonald was a member of the First United Methodist Church, Delta Kappa Gamma Sorority, KNEA, Daughters of the American Revolution, Order of Eastern Star and Barton County Association of Retired School Personnel. She was an avid bridge player and enjoyed needlepoint.
Survivors include a daughter, Donna K. Evers, and her husband David L., Great Bend; seven grandchildren, Randall Pryor, and his wife Eva, Enid, Okla.; Kristie Pryor, Dallas-Fort Worth, Texas; David Evers II, and his wife Betty, and Darla Edwards and her fiancé Joe Saindon, all of Great Bend; Nancy Jansen, and her husband Mike, Fort Worth, Texas; DiAnne Rome, and her husband Mark, Salina; and Danielle Rowe and her husband Bobby, San Antonio, Texas; 12 great-grandchildren; and seven great-great-grandchildren.  
She was preceded in death by a daughter, Rebecca Ann Pryor Ward; a grandson, Rodger Pryor; and a brother, Dr. John Hart and his wife Mary Helen.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday at Bryant Funeral Home with the Rev. William F. Johnson officiating. Burial will be at the Great Bend Cemetery. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Friday, with the family receiving friends from 7 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
Memorials are suggested to Golden Belt Humane Society or Anna Hart Memorial Scholarship at Kansas Wesleyan College, in care of the funeral home. Condolences may be sent and notice viewed at www.bryantfh.net.
