Margaret Ann Thompson

Margaret Ann Thompson, 82, passed away on May 4, 2023, at Doctors Community Hospital, Hyattsville, Md. She was born on Sept. 14, 1940, in Hoisington, Kan., to Lonnie F. and Mabel (Smith) Mitchell. On Feb. 23, 1964, she married Lyle Lee Johnson in Hutchinson, Kan., and he passed on Feb. 25, 1965.  She then married Charles Thompson in Great Bend, Kan. He passed on Feb. 20, 2002.

A resident of Hyattsville, Md., coming from Great Bend, Kan., Margaret spent her working years as a Certified Medical Aide at Great Bend Manor. She was a member of Myers Chapel A.M.E Church, Great Bend, Kan. and Lifehouse Church, Oxen Hill, Md. Margaret enjoyed crocheting, collecting trinkets and always had a word search puzzle book close by. She loved spending time with her grand and great grandchildren, with a gift of sending cards and keeping in touch on the phone with family and friends.

.Survivors include five daughters, Monica Johnson of Hays, Kan., Tisa Johnson (Mokeer) of Florissant, Mo., Lisa Daniels of Great Bend, Kan., Kristina Johnson of Hyattsville, Md (care giver) and Tricia Johnson of Great Bend, Kan.; nine grandchildren, Kassidy (Erin) Givens, LaVert (Tiffany) Johnson, Tiffany Jones, Stephan (Becky) Johnson, DeAndrea Jones, Kena (Jazmine) Daniels-Bell, Tyler Givens, Micca Givens; nine great-grandchildren:  Cooper Givens, Cohen Givens, Kambree Johnson,  Daxtyn Johnson, Janiyah Givens, Jaliyah Givens, Elliot Givens, Ka’Ziyah Daniels and Kaia McGale, and a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins. Margaret is also survived by her stepmother Rosalie Mitchell of Great Bend, Kan.; three brothers, O. Gilbert (Grace) Brown of Springfield, Mo., Edward Brown of West Memphis, Ark., and Vernon Brown of Wichita, Kan.; three sisters, Zelma Forte of Kansas City, Kan., Eileen Brown of Wichita, Kan., and Joyce Dixon of Lubbock, Tex., and sister-in-laws Nellie Mitchell (Harold), and Linda Mitchell (Lonnie, Jr.). Preceding Margret are her mother, father, and brothers, Harold Mitchell, Lonnie Mitchell, Jr., Morris Brown, and son-in-law Bobbie Daniels.

Visitation will take place from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Monday, May 15, 2023, with family receiving from noon to 2 p.m., at Bryant Funeral Home. Funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, May 15, 2023, at Bryant Funeral Home, with Reverend Leroy Keith presiding. Interment will take place at Great Bend Cemetery. Memorials have been designated to Margaret Thompson Memorial Fund for funeral services or Margaret Thompson Memorial Fund of National Kidney Foundation, in care of Bryant Funeral Home.
