DODGE CITY — Margaret F. Lightcap, 88, died Nov. 22 at Central Kansas Medical Center at Great Bend. She was born on Dec. 13, 1921, at Lamar, Colo., the daughter of Lloyd and Lena (Krueger) Keenportz. She grew up in Hodgeman County and moved to Dodge City in 1940. On Sept. 21, 1940, she married Leroy Lightcap at Rozel. He preceded her in death on Aug. 9, 2004. Margaret was a homemaker and she and her husband lived in Dodge City until moving to Great Bend in 2000.

Mrs. Lightcap was a member of Central Baptist Church of Great Bend and a former member of The First Baptist Church and Women of the Moose Lodge No. 1187, both of Dodge City.

Survivors include a son Dale and wife Annette Lightcap of Olathe; a daughter Carolyn Sue and husband Gary Mills of Great Bend; a brother Lloyd (Bud) Keenportz of McCook, Neb.; a sister Augusta Perkins of Dodge City; nine grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and a great-great- granddaughter. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, a daughter, Nancy Lee Lightcap, and a sister, Norma Springer.

Funeral service will be held at Swaim Funeral Home of Dodge City on Saturday at 10:30 a.m. with the Rev. Dale Stanley officiating. Burial will follow at Maple Grove Cemetery in Dodge City. Visitation will be on Friday, from 1 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials to the charity of the donor’s choice in care of the funeral home.
