Margaret L. Kearns, 80, died Dec. 30 at her home in Great Bend. Born Jan. 30, 1933 in Downs, she was the daughter of LeRoy and Grace (Graig) Smith. She married Norman Robinson. He died in 1959. On Oct. 7, 1961, she married Charles E. Kearns in Chase. He died on March 24, 1981. A resident of Great Bend since 1986, coming from Chase, she was a homemaker and worked in the fabric department at Walmart until retirement.
Mrs. Kearns was a member of the First Southern Baptist Church, Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 3111 Auxiliary, Fraternal Order of Eagles Auxiliary, and Silver Cougar Club, all of Great Bend.
Survivors include three sons, Eddie Kearns and his wife Cindy of Parsons, Allen Robinson and companion Georgia Craft, and Shawn Kearns and companion Kathy Nimmo, both of Great Bend; one daughter, Becky Andereck and husband Dean of Hoisington; one brother, Larry Smith and wife Leila of Sterling, Colo.; seven grandchildren, Shane Andereck and wife Janet, Zac Andereck and wife Katherine, Krista Andereck, Jason Kearns, Molly Smith and husband Jeff, Josh Robinson, and Kelci Kearns; and four great-grandchildren, Jadynn Andereck, Kasey Andereck, Rylee Smith, and Addison Smith. She was preceded in death by six brothers, Harold Penland, Merl Smith, Warren Smith, Orval Smith, LaVerne Smith, and Dwight Smith; and two sisters, Gladys Boyd and Goldie Swartout.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday at Bryant Funeral Home with the Rev. Dr. Doyle Smith presiding. Burial will be at the Springdale Cemetery in Chase. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m., with family receiving friends from 6 to 8 p.m., on Thursday at the funeral home. Memorials are suggested to the First Southern Baptist Church or Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 3111 Auxiliary, in care of the funeral home.
