BAZINE — Marie Krug, 97, passed away Nov. 9, 2011, at Crossroads Hospice in Lakeview Village, Lenexa. She was born on July 4, 1914, the daughter of John F. and Elizabeth Keil Wittman in Russell.

She was a member of the United Methodist Church in Bazine where she taught Sunday school and held numerous jobs. She was a member of Retired Persons in Motion Sunday school class in Lenexa, where she had lived for the past four years. Marie loved music and loved working with her husband on the farm.

On Nov. 10, 1931, she married Harvey Krug in Dighton. He preceded her in death on May 9, 1997. She is survived by two daughters, Joan Stieben (Clyde), Bazine and Shirley Hollingsworth, Lenexa; six grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, and 11 great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by two brothers, John and Ted Wittman, and three sisters, Pauline Wittman, Elizabeth Erlich and Mollie Strauch; and a granddaughter, Deanna Kay.

Funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 12 at the United Methodist Church, Bazine, with the Rev. Jill Chambers presiding. Burial will be in the Bazine cemetery. Friends may call at Fitzgerald Funeral Home from 11 a.m. until 9 p.m. Friday, and on Saturday from 9-11 a.m. Memorial contributions may be given to the United Methodist Church Trustees.
