Marie M. Huslig 1920-2013

OLMITZ — Marie M. Huslig, 93, died Nov. 5, 2013 at Good Samaritan Society in Ellsworth.
Born Sept. 7, 1920 in Olmitz, she was the daughter of Frank and Cecilia (Gleissner) Riedel. On June 3, 1941, she married Bernard Huslig in Olmitz. A lifelong area resident, she worked as a cook for the Claflin High School for several years. She enjoyed polka dancing, cooking, flowers, gardening, and helping on the farm.
Mrs. Huslig was a member of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church and Altar Society in Claflin, Sunflower Polka Club, and Midwest Polka Club.
Survivors include a son, Thomas Huslig of Claflin; three grandchildren, Tina Firgens, Lisa Goetz, Diana Otsuka; and four great-grandchildren, Peyton Firgens, Logan Firgens, Paige Goetz, and Tyler Goetz.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; one daughter, Vickie Mower; and four brothers, Andy, Frank, Bernard, and Tony.
Vigil service followed by an Altar Society rosary will be held at 7 p.m. today at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Claflin. Mass of Christian burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, at the church with Father John Forkuoh and Father Don Debes as concelebrants. Burial will follow at the Claflin Cemetery. Friends may call from 1 until 4 p.m. Thursday at Nicholson-Ricke Funeral Home in Hoisington, and at the church starting at 5:30 until 8 p.m. Memorials are suggested to Immaculate Conception Catholic Church or Claflin Ambulance Fund in care of the funeral home.
