Marilyn Jane Malbrough, 64, died Nov. 11, 2015, at Stormont-Vail Regional Health Center in Topeka. She was born Oct. 8, 1951, at Great Bend, the daughter of Thomas James and Ruth Clara (Hawkins) Hardy.
Marilyn married Lawrence Malbrough Nov. 24, 1979 in Great Bend, He died Oct. 22, 2009.
Marilyn was a lifelong Great Bend resident, who lived her last four years in Topeka. Marilyn had been head of the circulation department for 40 years at the Great Bend Public Library, retiring in 2011.
Marilyn was a devoted member of Myers Chapel AME Church, where she also served a number of years as the church secretary.
Survivors include two sons, Jamie Malbrough and his wife Tishan of Columbia, S.C., Justin Malbrough and his wife Katie of Salina; one brother, James Hardy of McAlester, Okla.; one sister, Marva Hardy Alexander of Topeka; six grandchildren, Jordan, Alissa, Isabella Sylas, Carter, Harlow; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and devoted friends. She was preceded in death by her parents.
Funeral Service will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 18, at Bryant Funeral Home in Great Bend with Pastor Martin Grizzell, the Rev. Willis Hockett and the Rev. Leroy Keith officiating. Interment will be at Hillcrest Memorial Park, Great Bend, Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. on Tuesday, with the family receiving friends from 6-8 p.m., at the funeral home. Memorials are suggested to Myers Chapel or the Great Bend Public Library, in care of the funeral home. Condolences may be sent and notice viewed at www.bryantfh.net.
