LEWIS — Marvin Ray “Bud” Lawrence, died Oct. 11, at Edwards County Hospital in Kinsley. Born Dec. 20, 1940, in Hutchinson, he was the son of Dail I. and Ella Jane Mooney Lawrence. On Sept. 20, 1980, he married Linda Sue McDonald. She died on Dec. 18, 2011. He was a retired machine operator for Cross Manufacturing and a self-employed mechanic.
Mr. Lawrence was a member of the Baptist Church in Kinsley.
Survivors include one son, Randy and wife Stacy Lawrence, of Lewis; one daughter, Marletta Shelton and husband Ron, of Larned; two stepdaughters, Dawnita Smith of Burlington, Okla. and Daphne Smith of Isabel, Okla.; three sisters, Mary Ellen Smith of Ingleside, Texas, Marcialee Lawrence of Lewis and Elsie May Helget of Hugoton; eight grandchildren, Jahue Warman, Rendelle Vagle, Alexandria Lawrence, Lynaye Shelton, Symantha Shelton, Isaac Lawrence, Macannah Smith and Ian Lawrence; and one great-grandson, Zephaniah Vagle. He was preceded in death by a sister, Marjorie Stapelton.
Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. on Wednesday, at the First Southern Baptist Church in Larned, with Pastor Mark Slattery presiding. Burial will be at the Larned Cemetery. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. until 8 p.m. today at Morell Funeral Home in Larned.   Memorials are suggested to the First Southern Baptist Youth Group in care of the funeral home.
