ABILENE — Mary Alice Schlitter, 92, died July 26, 2011 at the Village Manor in Abilene.
She was born Feb. 10, 1919 in Ness County, the daughter of Hugh Charles and Ethel (Phleger) Corrigan.
She was a 1942 graduate of Ness City High School. On July 8, 1943, she married Daniel J. Schlitter in Ness City. He died on June 5, 1994. A resident of Abilene since 2005, she moved from Great Bend where she had resided since 1959. She was employed by the Central Kansas Medical Center before her retirement.
Mrs. Schlitter was a member of St. Rose at Prince of Peace Parish in Great Bend and the St. Rose Altar Society in Great Bend.
Survivors include a son, Dennis Wayne Schlitter, Great Bend; two daughters, Mary Ann Boese, Fort Smith, Ark., and Diana Lynn Corn, Abilene; a sister, Blanche Elizabeth Pfannenestiel, Superior, Neb.; 13 grandchildren; and many great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death her husband, Daniel J. Schlitter; a son, Danny Ray Schlitter; two brothers, Roy Corrigan and Fred Corrigan; and a sister, Violet Mae Ruff.
Funeral services are scheduled at 11 a.m. Friday, July 29 at St. Rose at Prince of Peace Parish in Great Bend with Father Reginald A. Urban presiding. Burial will be at the Great Bend Cemetery. Friends may visit from 9:30 a.m. to 10:50 a.m. on Friday at the church with family receiving friends from 10 to 10:30 a.m., followed by a Rosary at 10:30 a.m.
Memorials are suggested to Hospice of Dickinson County.
