HOISINGTON — Mary Alice Stetler, 81, died June 26 at Clara Barton Hospital, Hoisington. She was born July 23, 1930 at Liebenthal, the daughter of Marcus and Magdalena (Herrman) Depperschmidt.
She married John A. Stetler Jan. 4, 1949 at Sapulpa, Okla. He died Aug. 31, 2001. She was a homemaker and lifelong Barton County resident.
She was a member of St. Ann Catholic Church, St. Ann Altar Society, Olmitz, VFW Women’s Auxiliary, Hoisington, Great Bend Lyon’s Club, enjoyed bowling, and watching her grandchildren play sports.
She is survived by one son, Kevin Stetler and wife Pam, Hoisington; one daughter, Kay Fitzsimmons and husband John, Albert; three sisters, Patty Hasenfratz, Rush Center, Ida John, California, and JoAnn Fincher, LaCrosse; three brothers, Edward Depperschmidt, Rush Center, Charles Depperschmidt, LaCrosse, and Dennis Depperschmidt, Rush Center; and grandchildren, Michael Lee (Boomer) Stetler, John Matthew Fitzsimmons and wife Megan, Leslie Nicole Fitzsimmons, Zachary John Stetler, and Cody Lee Stetler. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, one son, Johnny Mike Stetler; two brothers, LaVerne Depperschmidt and Gerald Depperschmidt; and one sister, Rosie Krom.
The Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10 a.m. on Friday, June 29 at St. Ann Catholic Church in Olmitz. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Thursday at Nicholson-Ricke Funeral Home, Hoisington.
The wake service will be at 7 p.m. on Thursday followed by an altar society rosary at the church. The officiant will be Father Ultan Murphy. Interment will be Golden Belt Cemetery, Barton County.
