Ellinwood, KS — Mary Ann Brungardt, 102, passed away at Ellinwood District Hospital in Ellinwood, KS on January 31st, 2020. She was born in Dubuque, KS on January 28th, 1918 to parents Frank & Mary (Weber) Thill. Mary Ann was a longtime Ellinwood resident moving to town upon the passing of her parents at the age of 11, where she lived with John & Mayme (Thill) Kowalsky. Mary Ann graduated from Ellinwood High School in 1936 and later married Benjamin Brungardt in Ellinwood on June 11th, 1946. He passed away in 1966.  Memberships include St. Joseph Catholic Church, Altar Society, and Daughters of Isabella. 

Survivors include daughters, Sally Rupp, Hays, KS and Susie (Paul) Batchman, Ellinwood, KS; sister, Anna Lee Habiger, Ellinwood, KS; grandchildren, Katrina McCormick (Chris), Nixa, MO, Jessica Rupp, Olathe, KS, Mark (Cassie) Batchman, Ellinwood, KS, Michael (Casey) Batchman, Ellinwood, KS; great-grandchildren, Kaiden, Chloe, & Creed McCormick, Cale, Alyvia, & Mallory Batchman. 

Mary Ann was preceded in death by her husband; brothers, Frank, Nick, Paul, & Leonard Thill; sisters, Eleanora, Frances, Catherine Thill , Claudine (Kowalsky) Carter, and Mildred (Martin) Doll. 

Funeral mass will be 10:30 AM, Tuesday, February 4th at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Ellinwood with Father Terrance Klein officiating. Interment will follow at Lakin-Comanche District Cemetery in Ellinwood. Visitation will be Monday, February 3rd at Minnis Chapel from 1-6 PM with family present from 4-6 PM. There will be a parish rosary at 3 PM at the funeral home and vigil service will be Monday 7 PM at St. Joseph Church. Memorials are suggested to St. Joseph School Living Legacy or Heritage Club in care of Minnis Chapel, PO Box 246, Ellinwood, KS 67526.
