LYONS — Mary Stone, 63, died March 28, at her home in Lyons. Born Nov. 8, 1951, in Beloit, she was the daughter of Albert and Freda Wooton Roof. She graduated from Great Bend High School and Barton Community College with an associates degree. On April 6, 1979, she married Jay B. Stone. A resident of Lyons since 1973, formerly of Great Bend, she was a Correctional Investigator at the Ellsworth Correctional Facility, Dispatcher for the Rice County Council of Aging and Quivira Transit.
Mrs. Stone was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars in Lyons.
Survivors include her husband Jay, of the home; three sons, Bill Anthony of Wichita, Justin Anthony and fiancee Janet Heter of McPherson, and Tyler and Cassie Stone of Olathe; foster son, Robert Alvarado of Fullerton, Calif.; and nine grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday at Birzer Funeral Home in Lyons with Marc Stroede officiating. Burial will be at the Great Bend Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to the Mary Stone Memorial Fund in care of the funeral home.
