SALINA — Matilda Pauline “Tillie” Hoth, 98, formally of Holyrood, died Jan. 18, 2015. Born Aug. 30, 1916, in Ellsworth County, she was the daughter of Fred and Anna (Kempke) Hoffman.
She was a graduate of Sterling College and a retired teacher who taught in rural one-room schools in Ellsworth County prior to teaching in elementary schools in Holyrood and Bushton. On April 1, 1944, she married Kenneth Hoth in Santa Fe, N.M. He preceded her in death in 1967.
Survivors include her daughter, Alice (Archie) Riggs, of Salina; two grandchildren, Angie (Beau) Martin, of Shawnee, and Anita (Greg) Bush, of Olathe; four great-grandchildren, Cole and Bennett Martin, and Macy and Ellie Bush; and a sister, Arline Kerns of Lindsborg.
Memorial Celebration of Life services will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Jan. 24, at the Trinity United Methodist Church in Salina. There will be no visitation and a private inurnment will take place before the services.
