HOISINGTON – Matthew R. Morgenstern, 46, died November 8, 2021, at Wesley Medical Center, Wichita.  He was born November 14, 1974, in Wichita, Kansas, the son of Robert and Janice E. (Smith) Morgenstern. Matt graduated from Hoisington High School in 1993 and then attended Fort Hays State College.

A lifetime Hoisington resident he worked for FIS, a partner of Cuna.  Matt was a member of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus Council #1521.  Matt enjoyed helping on the farm particularly during harvest.  He was an avid outdoorsman, he loved hunting, kayaking, and camping.  He also loved playing cards and attending sporting events, but most especially spending time with family and friends.

He is survived by; his parents, Bob and Jan Morgenstern of Hoisington; two sisters, Crista Robinson and Karla Wilkens and husband Jake, all of Hoisington; he was especially proud of his nephews and niece, Xavier, Chase, Legend, and Jason Robinson and Kinley and Adler Wilkens; and so many much loved aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.

He was preceded in death by grandparents, LeRoy and Loretta Morgenstern and Robert “Bob” & Margaret Smith.

Visitation will be 9 a.m. to 8 p.m., Friday, with family to greet friends from 6 to 8 p.m. 

Vigil with Knights of Columbus Rosary will begin at 7 p.m., Friday, all at Nicholson-Ricke Funeral Home Chapel.

Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m., Saturday, November 13, 2021, at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, Hoisington, celebrated by Father Anselm Eke, MSP. 

Burial will follow in St. John Catholic Cemetery, Hoisington.
