ELLINWOOD — Max Owen Roberts, 76, passed away at his home on Feb. 17, 2026, in Ellinwood, Kan. He was born Nov. 20, 1949, in Great Bend, KS. Max was very involved in coaching and working in the Great Bend community.

Survivors include his beloved wife of 37 years, Kathy Ann Roberts; two sons, Kyle and Cory Roberts; daughter, Casey Batchman; six grandchildren, and one great granddaughter. He was preceded in death by his parents, Theron James Roberts, Sr. and Georgia (Grizzle) Roberts; brothers, Jerry Roberts and T.J. Roberts, Jr.; sister, Marsha Gustin; and brother-in-law, Mickey Yasko.

Funeral service will be held at 10 a.m., Monday, Feb. 23, 2026, at Ellinwood Community Church. Burial will follow at Lakin-Comanche Cemetery, Ellinwood, with military honors conducted by the Ft. Riley Honor Guard. Visitation will be available from 1 p.m. to 8 p.m., Sunday, Feb. 22, 2026, with family receiving guests from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m., at Bryant Funeral Home.
