Melba Jean Boxberger    1924 - 2011

BELOIT — Melba Jean Boxberger, 86, of Beloit died May 2 at the Hill Top Lodge Nursing Home in Beloit. Born Aug. 17, 1924 in Hamilton, she was the daughter of Raymond A. and Ethel Hazel (Kern) Ott. She grew up in Russell and graduated from Russell High School in 1942. On April 25, 1950, she married Solomon Boxberger in Kansas City. A resident of Beloit since 2005, moving from Russell, she was a homemaker.
Mrs. Boxberger was a member of the Baptist church. 
Survivors include two sisters, Joan Ott of Springdale, Ark. and Joyce Ott of Grove, Okla.; and a niece. She was preceded in death by her husband, Solomon; and a brother, Bill Ott.
Celebration of Melba Jean’s Life will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday, at Pohlman-Varner-Peeler Mortuary in Russell. Private family services will follow at the Russell City cemetery. Friends may visit from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. today at the mortuary. Memorials have been established with Russell County Red Cross and Russell American Legion Post 99, in care of the funeral home.
