Melissa Renee Tammen

ALBERT — Melissa Renee Tammen, 37, passed away June 20, 2020, at her home. She was born Feb. 17, 1983, at Great Bend, to David Lee and Debra Renee (Hejny) Tammen.

Melissa, a 20 year resident of rural Albert coming from Great Bend, she received her CMA degree from Barton County Community College. She was a dedicated long term MHDD for Larned State Hospital. She was a baptized and confirmed member of Peace Lutheran Church, rural Albert, and enjoyed traveling, especially cruises, riding Harleys and driving big trucks, and her dogs, especially her current pit bull terrier, Karma.

Survivors include her father, David Lee Tammen and wife Lynn of Albert; mother, Debra Tammen of Great Bend and her significant other Larry Clair of Ellinwood; one brother, Michael Tammen of Great Bend; two step sisters, Amber Maneth of Westminster, Colo., and Liston Marsh of Great Bend; and two nieces, Hailey Tammen and Riley Tammen. She was preceded in death by one brother, Mathew Tammen; and grandparents, Charles and Jaunis (Bose) Tammen and Orval and Betty (Smith) Hejny.

Funeral service will be held 10 a.m. Thursday, June 25, 2020, at Bryant Funeral Home, with Pastor Chuck Carpenter presiding. Interment will follow at Peace Lutheran Church Cemetery, rural Albert. Visitation will be 9 a.m. to 9 p.m., Wednesday, June 24, with family receiving friends from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m., all at Bryant Funeral Home. Memorial contributions may be made to Golden Belt Humane Society or Peace Lutheran Church, in care of Bryant Funeral Home. Condolences may be sent and notice viewed at www.bryantfh.net.
