Mercedes Marie (Hoffman) Huslig 1935 - 2016

ELLINWOOD — Mercedes Marie (Hoffman) Huslig, 81, passed away at the Ellinwood District Hospital on July 16, 2016. Born on April 17, 1935, in Odin she was the daughter of Michael and Margret (Feltis) Hoffman. In 1953, she graduated from Great Bend High School. On April 27, 1963, she married Arthur Huslig in Great Bend. He survives of the home. An Ellinwood resident since 1963, she worked as a housewife and secretary. She loved spending time with family, especially grandchildren, and also enjoyed knitting.
Mrs. Huslig was a member of St. Joseph Church, St. Joseph altar society, Legion of Mary, and volunteered in the Gray Ladies organization.
Survivors include husband, Arthur E. Huslig of Ellinwood; a son, Eugene G. Huslig and wife Chelle, of Manhatten; a daughter, Christina D. Befort and husband Steve, of Lacrosse; a sister, Marcella Flax of Ellis; five grandchildren, Makenzie, Ezekiel, Camille, Rebecca, and Heather; and six in-laws and spouses. She was preceded in death by her parents; three children; three sisters, Delores Schneweis, Sister M. Lawrence, and Anna Koester; and brothers-in-law, Larry Huslig and Ervin and wife Mary Ann Huslig.
Funeral Mass will be held at 10 a.m. on Wednesday at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Ellinwood with Father Terrance Klein presiding. Burial will follow at Lakin-Comanche District Cemetery in Ellinwood. Visitation will be from 1-6 p.m. today, with the Altar Society Rosary at 3 p.m., at the funeral home. There will be a Vigil Service at 7 p.m. today at St. Joseph Church. In lieu of flowers memorials are suggested to St. Joseph School Endowment Fund, Ellinwood Fire Department, or Mass Offering, in care of the funeral home.
