NEW CAMBRIA — Merlyn L. Andres, Sr., 72, died Tuesday, March 2 at Enterprise Estates, Enterprise. Born Sept. 21, 1942, at Larned, he was the son of Herman and LaVeda (Moore) Andres.
Merlyn grew up in the Alexander area and following graduation from high school Merlyn was an HVAC technician for Four Seasons Inc. in Abilene before retiring. On June 8, 1968, he married Sharon Herrman at LaCrosse. They later divorced. He enjoyed hunting, driving his golf cart, and spending time with his grandchildren.
Survivors include his ex-wife, Sharon Smith, Abilene; son Merlyn L., Jr., wife Lynn Andres, Solomon; two daughters, Janet and husband Gary Davis, New Cambria, and Janice and husband Shadd Snyder, Enterprise; three sisters: Marcel and husband Louis Leutters, Ransom; Karen Ward, Texas; Annette and husband Boyd Waite, Salina; ten grandchildren and two great grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his sister, Delores Steep; brothers Frank Stafford and Edward Stafford, Jr., and his parents.
Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Saturday, March 7, at the Carlson-Becker Funeral Home in Solomon with Father John Wolesky officiating. There will be on visitation due to cremation. Memorials are suggested to the Merlyn L. Andres Sr. Memorial Fund in care of the Carlson-Becker Funeral Home.
