ELLINWOOD — Mervin Glade Schrader, 92, died May 12, 2020 at the Ellinwood District Hospital, Ellinwood, Kan. He was born Aug. 31, 1927 in Hudson, Kan., the son of Philip and Ruby (DeWerff) Schrader. Mervin graduated from Hudson High School.
In the early 1950’s Mervin served in the Army Military Police Corps, and was stationed in Germany. While in Germany, Mervin married Hannelore (Ann) Henrici on Nov. 26, 1954 in Frankfurt.
After returning to the United States, Mervin and Hannelore settled on a farm east of Ellinwood, where he was a lifelong farmer. He also worked for many years for the Great Bend Livestock Commission.
Mervin enjoyed helping with and going to auctions, watching sports, and gathering with his friends for cards and coffee.
Mervin is survived by his daughter, Karen Schrader of Tillamook, Ore. and one brother, Rex (Nancy) Schrader of Morgan, Texas. He was preceded in death by his wife, Hannelore and one sister, Joyce (Milton) Meyer, Ellinwood, Kan.
