HAYS — Michael Dean Graf, 59, died May 28, 2015, at his home in Hays. He was born June 13, 1955, in Great Bend, to Edwin and Armella “Millie” (Stegman) Graf. He graduated from Great Bend High School in 1973 and attended Fort Hays State University. He married Robbie (Weatherbee) Dreiling on Aug. 31, 1991.
He was the Director of Ellis County Public Works for over 22 years. He was a member of National Association of County Engineers, Associated with Kansas County Highway Road Scholars, and was past president of Kansas County Highway Association, and elected the Kansas Highway Official of the Year in 2011, Certified Public Manager, past board member of United Way of Ellis County, 3rd Degree member of Knights of Columbus, Council # 6984, and a Relay for Life Team Leader.
Survivors include his wife, of the home; two daughters, Kendra Dreiling, Hays, and Kristie May and husband Trevor; three grandsons, Toby, Eli and Dez , of Hays; a sister, Janice Burkhead and husband Lee of Kansas City, Mo.; three brothers, Jim Graf and wife Kathy of Hutchinson, Tom Graf and wife Shyrlene of Fort Collins, Colo., and David Graf and wife Julie of Dallas, Texas; brothers-in-law Steve Bogart (Norma), Gary Weatherbee and wife Deb of Hays; and sisters-in-law Kathy Johnson and husband Robert and Vicky Thompson and husband Bob, both of Enid, Okla.
He was preceded in death by both parents and a sister Norma Bogart.
Funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Monday, June 1, at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Hays. Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Sunday and 10-10:30 a.m. Monday  at Brock’s-Keithley Funeral Chapel & Crematory in Hays. A Knights of Columbus Rosary service will be at 6:30 p.m. Sunday, followed by a parish vigil service at 7 p.m., at the funeral chapel.
Memorials are suggested to the Cancer Council of Ellis County or the Humane Society of The High Plains and may be sent in care of the funeral chapel. Condolences may be sent to the family by guest book at www.keithleyfuneralchapels.com or emailed to keithley@ruraltel.net.
