LARNED — Morgan Wright, 94, died Nov. 27, 2019, at Larned, Kan. He was born at Arkansas City, Kan., on April 5, 1925, the son of Floyd and Lillian (Morgan) Wright. He graduated from Arkansas City High School in 1943. A World War II veteran, he served in the 63rd Armored Infantry Battalion of the 11th Armored Division. Wounded in action in Andernach, Germany on March 9, 1945, he was honorably discharged at the O’Reilly General (Army) Hospital at Springfield, Missouri on May 21, 1946.
He attended Arkansas City Junior College, and graduated from the University of Kansas School of Law in 1950, and practiced law at Larned from then until his retirement in 2001.
On May 2, 1954, he married Joan McDowell at Pratt, she survives him.
Other surviving family members include a brother, Willard Wright of Austin, Texas; his daughter Beth Wright and husband Craig Chisholm of Omaha, Neb.; two grandsons, Bryan of Prairie Village and Nolan of Wichita, the children of his deceased son, Wyatt Wright, and Pam Wright of Overland Park, Wyatt’s surviving wife; his sister, Betty Wright Smith predeceased him.
He was a member of the United Methodist Church of Larned. Cremation has taken place. A private family service and inurnment will be at Riverview Cemetery, Arkansas City, at a later date.
