LYONS — Myron J. Behnke, 69, died Nov. 13, 2011 at Via Christi St. Francis Hospital in Wichita.
He was born Oct. 6, 1942 in Hutchinson, the son of Merrill and Marceline Monroe Behnke.
In 1960, he graduated from Bushton High School. He earned his bachelor’s degree in business and agriculture in 1965 from Fort Hays State University. On June 6, 1969, he married Jean Dobrinski in Lorraine. He was a lifetime farmer in Rice County.
Mr. Behnke was a veteran of the Army National Guard. He was a member of Salem United Methodist Church in Bushton, attended Lorraine First Baptist Church with his wife and boys, was past president and board member of the Farmers Coop Union, board member of the Bushton Grain and Supply, board member of the A.S.C.S. currently F.S.A. and former board member of the Rice County Farm Bureau.
Survivors include his wife, Jean, of the home; two sons, Barry and wife Graham Behnke, Kirkwood, Mo.; and Brock Behnke, Geneseo; two brothers, Melvin Behnke, Wichita; and Meredith Behnke, Bushton; two sisters, Marilyn Wilkens, Shawnee; and Myretta Bell, Bedford, Texas; a grandson, Arthur John Behnke; and numerous other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and a brother, Maurice Behnke.
Funeral services are scheduled at 3 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 19 at the First Baptist Church in Lorraine with Pastors Dave Barger and Paul Johnson officiating. Burial will be at the Salem Church Cemetery in rural Bushton. Friends may visit from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday at Birzer Funeral Home in Lyons with the family present. Memorials are suggested to the Lorraine First Baptist Church Medical Mission in Cameroon, Africa, in care of the funeral home.
