CLAFLIN — Naomi E. (Pete) Soeken, 75, died Dec. 18 at her home in Claflin. Born Oct. 1, 1935, in Manhattan, she was the daughter of Earl and Oneita (Crook) Stadel. On Dec. 19, 1954, she married Howard Lee Soeken in Pratt. A resident of Claflin since 1955, coming from Manhattan, she was a homemaker.

Mrs. Soeken was a member of the St. Peter Lutheran Church in Holyrood. She was a former president for 19-years and founder of the Kansas Association of Weaver and Spinners of Claflin.

Survivors include her husband, Howard Soeken, of the home; three sons, Shane Soeken and wife Pam of St. George, Rob Soeken and wife Lori of Great Bend and Matt Soeken and wife Cathy of Claflin; six grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents and a grandson.

Funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at St. Peter Lutheran Church in Holyrood with Pastor Lloyd Sprick officiating. Burial will be at the Claflin Cemetery. Friends may visit from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. today, with the family receiving friends from 4 to 8 p.m., at Nicholson-Ricke Funeral Home in Hoisington, and from 9:30 a.m. to service time on Wednesday at the church. Memorials are suggested to the Lutheran World Relief or Golden Belt Home Health and Hospice in care of the funeral home. Condolences may be sent and notice viewed at www.nicholsonrickefh.net.
