Orville Louis Brack 1930 - 2018


Orville Louis Brack was born Sept. 13, 1930, on the family farm outside of Dorrance, Kansas, to Edward and Emma (Galliart) Brack. He passed away on Feb. 8, 2018, in Harper, Kansas, at the age of 87 years, 4 months, and 26 days.
Orville married Bernice Norma Morin in Damar, Kansas, on Sept. 7, 1957. They were blessed with three children: Randall, Michele, and Michael. The family lived in Scott City before moving to Harper in 1973. Bernice passed away on June 8, 2017.
On Aug. 18, 1955, Orville was inducted into the United States Army where he was a Wheel Vehicle Mechanic for the 3rd U.S. Infantry Regiment, “The Old Guard.” His duties included serving in the Honor Guard during Eisenhowser’s presidency. On June 3, 1957, he was transferred to the Army Reserves, and on Aug. 17, 1961, he was honorably discharged as a Specialist 5th Class.
Orville was a mechanic for John Deere in Scott City before moving to Harper. He then worked for Occidental Petroleum as an Operator until he retired. Orville also farmed the family homestead with his brother Everett. The two were never happier than the time they spent together farming. Orville was a member of the St. Patrick Catholic Church and was a 4th Degree Knights of Columbus.
Preceding him in death are his parents, his wife, an infant sister, and his brother, Everett. He is survived by his son, Randall Brack of Arlington, Virginia; daughter, Michele Donoho and husband, Dee of Harper; son, Michael Brack of Tucson, Arizona; sister, Shirley Yakesch; granddaughter, Brande Vogele and husband, Joshua of Harper; great-grandson’s, Rustin Denton and Zander Vogele; other relatives and many friends.
Friends may view and register from 1-5 p.m. on Sunday at the funeral home.
Funeral Mass is at 10:30 a.m. Monday, Feb. 12, at the St. Patrick Catholic Church, Harper, of the St. Joan of Arc Parish Community with Father Michael Peltzer officiating. Interment follows at the Harper Cemetery.
Memorial contributions can be made to the Harper Area Health Foundation and may be sent in care of the funeral home.
