Paul W. Hammans 1943- 2012

Paul W. Hammans, 68, died  June 9 at Great Bend. He was born Aug. 2, 1943 at Florence, the son of John and Ethel (Roberts) Hammans. He was a 1972 graduate of the University of Kansas with a Bachelor of Business Administration degree. He married Martha Weller June 23, 1973 at Great Bend. They later divorced. He then married Karen Ueckert April 16, 1988 at Great Bend.
He was golf superintendent for Ellinwood Golf Course, Lyons Golf Course, Lake Barton Golf Club, and most recently retired from StoneRidge Golf Club, Great Bend.
Mr. Hammans was a lifetime Great Bend resident also living in California and Arizona. He was a United States Army veteran of the Vietnam Conflict.
He was a member of Golf Course Superintendents Association of America.  He enjoyed golfing, traveling, hiking in the mountains, and being in Colorado in the fall.
He is survived by wife, Karen Hammans of the home; one daughter, Janea Trapp and her husband Tim of Wichita; one son, Chad VanCamp and his wife Erin of Kansas City, Kan.; two brothers, John Hammans of Augusta, and Gail Hammans of Sapulpa, Okla.; and three grandchildren, Noah Trapp, Avery VanCamp and Aaden VanCamp; He was preceded in death by his parents.
The memorial service is 10:30 a.m. on June 12  at Bryant Funeral Home with The Reverend John Grummon officiating. There will be no visitation as cremation has taken place. Memorial Fund is CKMC Foundation for the benefit of the Heartland Cancer Center to purchase a teaching mannequin, in care of Bryant Funeral Home.
