ST. JOHN — Pauline Bookstore, 98, died Jan. 6, 2012, at the Stafford County Hospital. Born May 14, 1913, in Luray, she was the daughter of Roy and Albina (Hampl) Crawford. Living in rural St. John since 1938, she was a homemaker and home economist Extension Agent. On Dec. 2, 1945, she married Dale Bookstore in St. John. He preceded her in death.

Mrs. Bookstore was a member of the Mothers Club, Hesperian Club and the First United Methodist Church.

Survivors include a daughter-in-law, Twila Bookstore, of St. John; three grandchildren, Mike Bookstore, of St. John, Harold McCandless, of Cheney, Wash., and Stanton McCandless, of Portland, Ore.; six great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild. She was preceded in death by a son, Robert Dale Bookstore; two daughters, Dalene McCandless and Mary Jo Bookstore; a brother, Clarence Crawford; and three grandchildren, Justin Bookstore, Donna Siegel and Kent McCandless.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 10, at Minnis Chapel in St. John, with Roy Nelson presiding. Burial will follow at the Fairview Park Cemetery in St. John. Memorials may be given to the 4-H Council or the Methodist Church in care of the funeral home.
