LARNED — Peggy J. Thompson, 61, passed away Jan. 19, 2015 at Via Christi Hospital St. Francis in Wichita. Born July 6, 1953, in Hoisington, she was the daughter of John H. and Marjorie Wagner Niewald. On Dec. 17, 1983, she married Kelly Thompson. They later divorced. A longtime area resident, she worked at the Larned State Hospital for 23 ½ years as a LMHT.
Peggy was a member of the Church of Christ and the ladies group, both of Larned.
Survivors include, her mother; a son, Mat Thompson and significant other Tori Perez, of Larned; a daughter, Kelsi (Jerry) Carmichael, of Great Bend; a grandson, Tucker Thompson of Kinsley/Larned; a step-grandson, Alex Fulls of Kinsley; and Aunt Jo Ann (Forrest) Edwards, of Indiana. She was preceded in death by a sister, Debbie Niewald; and her father.
Cremation has taken place and a memorial service will be at 11 a.m. on Friday at Beckwith Mortuary in Larned with Pastor Leroy Lyon presiding. Inurnment will be held at 2:30 p.m. at the Lone Star Cemetery in Bison. Friends may sign the register book from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
