GREAT BEND — Peter B. “Buddy” Warren, 90, passed away June 19, 2020, at his home in Great Bend. He was born February 2, 1930, at Ponotoc, Miss., to Pettus & Vallye (Owens) Warren. He married June Whitehead October 4, 1952, at Raton, New Mexico. She survives. 

Coming from Oxnard, Calif. in 1990, Peter was a Great Bend resident. Peter graduated from Father Flanagan’s Boys Town in Nebraska. He was a retired Navy Seabee in the United States Navy during the Korean and Vietnam Conflicts. He was a member of the MC Seabees Battalion 10 and Battalion 5. He was awarded the Silver Star, bronze medal with V, and the Purple Heart. He was a member of Prince of Peace Parish at St. Patrick Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus, having been very active in the church. Peter was a champion boxer in the Navy and an avid golfer. Peter was a family man and especially loved his family.  

Survivors include, his wife June Warren of the home; two sons, Ronnie Warren and wife Patti and Michael Warren, and three daughters, Mary Wymore and husband Roy, Linda Miller and husband William and Theresa Warren and husband Michael Torres, all of Great Bend; eight grandchildren; and twelve great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; and four sisters, Lynda Young, Blanche Turcott, Billye Van Sides and Mary F. Montgomery. 

Visitation will be held from 1:00 to 9:00 p.m., Tuesday, June 23, 2020 at Bryant Funeral Home, with Knights of Columbus Rosary and Vigil Service at 7:00 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, June 24, 2020, at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Great Bend, with Father Don Bedore presiding. Interment will be in the Great Bend Cemetery with military rites by the U.S. Navy. Memorials are suggested to the Wounded Warrior Project, in care of Bryant Funeral Home.
