Phillip J. Sandblade 1922 - 2018

LARNED – Phillip J. Sandblade, 95, passed away Feb. 25, 2018 at Diversicare of Larned. Born Aug. 2, 1922 in Minneapolis, Minn., the son of Gustaf James and Effie Carlson Sandblade. A longtime area resident, he was a traveling sales manager of farm related equipment for many years. In 1965, Phil and Theresa founded Philsco Products in Larned, which they owned and managed until their retirement in 1990. On May 23, 1949, he married Theresa Margaret Bergesch in Pine City, Minn. She died Feb. 22, 2008.
He was a member of the Western Kansas Manufactures Association and The Wet-Dry Routes, Santa Fe Trail Association. He was a friend to everyone in Larned, well known for his cigars and sense of humor. He loved his wife deeply and cared for her in her final years. He was a caring and kind father and grandfather, a true family man.
Survivors include, son, Richard (Elaine) Sandblade, Aurora, Colo.: daughter, Diane (Orin) Dodez, Larned, Ks.; four grandchildren; and one great grandchild. He was preceded in death by a brother, Richard David Sandblade.
Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Thursday at Beckwith Mortuary, Larned, with Robert Sallee presiding. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Wednesday at Beckwith Mortuary. Burial will be in the Larned Cemetery, Larned with military graveside rites. Memorials may be given to Wet-Dry Routes, Santa Fe Trail Association or Jordaan Memorial Library in care of Beckwith Mortuary, Box 477 Larned, KS 67550.
